Bio

Joe Pound enters his first season as the Vikings head softball coach for the 2021-2022 season. Pound coached an elite travel softball team, the Gold Coast Hurricanes, with players committed to or now playing for FSU, Memphis, Mercer, USF, JU and FAU to name a few.

Prior to taking over the Vikings Softball Program, Pound spent four seasons as an assistant coach with the Vikings baseball team as the hitting coach. Over that four year span, the Vikings ranked in the top 4 in the FCSAA in homeruns each year, leading the FCSAA in homeruns during a COVID shortened 2020 season (30) and the 2021 season (59).

Pound was selected as an All-State in fielder for four straight years at Crescent City High School, where he still holds many offense records including most career home runs. He continued his playing career at the University of North Florida, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in health. He played four years under ABCA Hall of Fame coach Dusty Rhodes and was selected  for the All-Sunshine State Conference in 1997.
