Bio
After the schools first National Championship in 2024, Joe Pound enters his fourth season as the Vikings Head Softball Coach.
In three seasons with the Vikings, Pound’s teams have re-written the record books. 2024 brought a program record 55 wins led to the first Conference, District and National titles. The team included the programs first All-Americans: Kendall Catherwood, Princess Arredondo, Caylee Elder and Alyssa Vallad. The Vikings also tallied a program best 3.62 team GPA for the 2023-2024 school year.
Prior to taking over the Vikings Softball Program, Pound spent four seasons as an assistant coach with the Vikings baseball team as the hitting coach. Over that four year span the Vikings ranked in the top 4 in the FCSAA in homeruns each year, leading the FCSAA in homeruns during 2020 and 2021 seasons.
Pound coached an elite travel softball team, the Gold Coast Hurricanes, with players committed to or now playing for FSU, Memphis, Mercer, USF, JU, and FAU to name a few.
Pound was selected as an All-State in fielder four straight years at Crescent City High School, where he still holds many offensive records including most career home runs. He continued his playing career at the University of North Florida, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in health. He played four years under ABCA Hall of Fame coach Dusty Rhodes and was selected All-Sunshine State Conference in1997.
